Since our founding in 1919, Save the Children has responded to the needs of children in crisis around the world. In 2018, Save the Children responded to 115 global humanitarian emergencies in 60 countries, with a total reach of 12 million people including 7 million children.
Education is Save one of Children Norway’s main thematic priorities. We are now seeking to replace our regionally based education advisor to support humanitarian and long-
term education programs in the Middle East.
The Education advisor will support Save the Children country offices and partners in the implementation of education programs in the Middle East as well as assist in coordination and capacity-
strengthening of national and local stakeholders.
THE POSITION INCLUDES
Support Country offices and the humanitarian response teams to develop, grow and improve the quality of children’s right to learn in a safe and inclusive environment
Support capacity development of Save the Children staff and partners in the region
Facilitate the exchange of experiences across Save the Children education programs in the region and strengthen country to country linkages, and feed these into further program development
Provide systematic technical advice, training / capacity strengthening, and mentoring of staff and partners
Assist country offices with proposal development, program design, and as necessary follow up technical aspects of program implementation as well as monitoring and evaluating
Engage with donors, partners and the education clusters in the region to support strategy development, capacity strengthening and alignment of programming
Represent Save the Children in relevant forums / clusters, including with national authorities and donors
Possible short-term deployments to support emergency responses in the region
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS :
Academic qualification in a related field
Experience in education project management
Knowledge of and experience in global education and education in emergencies sector
Experience from working in the Middle East
Experience in developing and conducting trainings
Fluency in English, both verbal and written
Competency in Arabic highly desired

The time frame of the position is 2 years (24 months). The position is preferably based in the Middle East, to be discussed during recruitment process.
The role involves up to 50% travels to / in the Middle East.
