Role Summary :
In this role the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Lean Manufacturing Leader (LL) role are combined as this is key in a GE production site.
As EHS leader you are responsible for implementing and maintaining the plant strategy on EHS issues (air, climate change, waste, water, ergonomics, safety, health).
As a Lean Leader you will lead cross-functional projects to drive standardization, stability and simplification in the GE Healthcare business key customer facing processes.
Essential Responsibilities :
In the EHS leader role you will function in a team environment with other members of the business level EHS staff to ensure EHS compliance, to identify, prevent and resolve potential EHS issues and to mitigate environmental liabilities associated with current and former operations and facilities.
You will also lead the local EHS element owner team / EHS supporting staff.
In the Lean Leader role you will be providing change leadership Change Acceleration Process (CAP) methods and tools across assigned critical business initiatives.
In addition, the LL will partner with the existing network in a GE Healthcare business to provide leadership and direction on the implementation of Lean strategies and processes.
Responsible for driving lean projects across facilities that improve operations and business processes.
Managing multiple value streams, serving as a recognized expert and resource leader for focus areas, process rigor, and delivering significant simplification results.
Initiating sustainable process improvements to exceed customer expectations while using EHS and Lean strategies to drive continuous process improvement at the site.
Owning the development and deployment of existing methodologies while advancing and applying Lean principals
Facilitating workouts, value stream mapping sessions and activities to achieve business results.
In EHS leader role you will lead certain assigned aspects (technical, regulatory / third party interface, reporting, permitting, compliance, financial, administrative, etc.
of GE Healthcare projects and permits in compliance with relevant regulatory programs and GE corporate policies. Ensure appropriate management of consultants and legal counsel on projects and coordinate efforts of other EHS staff members and site EHS professionals on various projects as required.
Contribute and engage in establishing and tracking project budgets, if applicable. Provide and update estimates of future remedial costs on projects for environmental reserve purposes.
Evaluate facility EHS conditions, assess risks and develop appropriate corrective-action plans and budgets to address deficiencies in comparison to regulations and internal policy / protocol.
Provide EHS guidance and compliance support to site managers to ensure compliance with regulatory and program requirements.
Participate in EHS compliance and program audits of manufacturing sites and R&D teams.
Keep management apprised of progress and significant developments on key projects.
Qualifications / Requirements :
Bachelor of Science in Industrial, Environmental, Mechanical, Civil or Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline and significant progressive work experience in business environment
Significant Proven project and program management skills
Demonstrated solid performance, leadership and experience in lean
Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated facilitation experience
Desired Characteristics :
Experience managing projects and / or EHS compliance.
Able to simultaneously manage multiple projects and other responsibilities, adjust to changing priorities and to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on available information
Team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working within a globally diverse, cross-functional, internal and external team across different time zones.
