For our Projects department in Arendal, Norway, we are looking for a candidate for the position as Principal Engineer Electrical, Instrument & Hydraulics.
The position reports to VP Turret & Mooring Projects, and will take an active part in BW Offshores work related to bid and feed studies, projects and technical support for our FPSOs in operation.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Take design lead in Turret / Mooring / Subsea Electrical, Instrumentation and Hydraulic discipline activities
Design of subsea control systems and support subsea architecture development.
Actively drive / support the development of relevant RFQ’s for equipment suppliers, yards within the Electrical, Instrumentation and Hydraulic discipline for Subsea, Mooring & Turret projects
Take lead in work pack / procedure developments within Electrical, Instrumentation and Hydraulic disciplines.
Follow-up design, construction and testing activities within for the Electrical, Instrumentation and Hydraulic disciplines for Subsea, Mooring & Turret projects
Responsible for Electrical, Instrumentation and Hydraulic design including :
Develop and contribute with input to philosophies and design specifications
Ensure the design meets regulatory, class, client and corporate requirements
Perform pre- and detail engineering for Electrical, Instrumentation and Hydraulic systems
Develop material take-off and cost input
Give input / update master equipment list
Prepare and contribute with input to equipment specifications
Perform and / or contribute in BWO FPSO Unit surveys as required
Coordinate, plan and schedule Electrical, Instrumentation & Hydraulic activities to ensure a logical sequence and timely preparations in tender / feed & project phases
Review of relevant vendor documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements
Proactively support and cooperate with all engineering disciplines to achieve optimal design results, including relevant input and comments to other discipline deliveries
Review and approve deliverables from suppliers and contractors
Liaise with class, regulator and client for the submission / close out of documents.
Master’s degree in Engineering
Bachelor’s degree or long relevant experience may replace formal education
Ideally 15 years of relevant experience within the shipping and offshore industry
Minimum 10 years of experience within the FPSO industry
Team player with the ability to lead
Proactive and able to work independently, applying a structured and systematic approach
Strong communication skills and the ability to ask relevant questions and provide thorough explanations
Ability to deliver in a high pressure, fast pace project environment
Ability to deliver high quality work on time
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary / multinational environment
Understand Subsea Controls Equipment (Turret, topsides hardware, umbilical’s, distribution systems and tree equipment)
In depth knowledge Electrical, Instrument & Hydraulic design
Offshore experience with Construction
Engineering design and fabrication activities and FAT tasks
Fluent in English (oral and written)
The position may require temporary assignments at project premises or on-board units
The position may require heavy travel and long working hours during peak periods
