There is currently an opening for a Business Development Manager with a focus on Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) and Heat Cured Rubber (HCR).

In this role, the Business Development Manager (BDM) will participate in customer meetings in cooperation with our Sales representatives and Technical Service to understand customer requirements and lead internal support to monitor and move a portfolio of opportunities through the sales cycle to closure.

Having the ability to work with and influence internal cross-functional teams will be crucial to the success of the candidate and to ensure sales growth.

The BDM will provide support to Sales, Legal, Marketing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality and HSE functions to ensure that project milestones are delivered on time in full.

It will also be important to assist marketing and R&D in business case development for new technologies, product customization, and R&D product development projects related to LSR and HCR.

This role is responsible for providing broad direction to our Sales function for the development of new accounts and new applications and for coaching sales people in Silicone Rubber (LSR and HCR) market applications and product knowledge.

A high degree of understanding of the market, customer needs, and our industrial capabilities and product strengths is necessary to position Elkem for growth.

Conducting analysis of the potential customers and our current and future product offering will be essential for choosing the right targets to ensure success.

Benchmarking on competition offer will also contribute to the success of the candidate in his BDM role.

The BDM has a key influence on the future (including the short term) of the LSR and HCR business and must be proactive in working with customers and prospects to learn about future business potential to fit with Elkem capabilities.

The incumbent must then present and persuade management of the value and fit to strategy of potential new business particularly if it will require capital investment or investments in product development.

Success will depend on the incumbent's ability to manage the internal coordination of the sales strategy to commercial realization.

A collaboration with other Elkem Global team members will be necessary to reapply success stories and increase sales in North America perimeter and contribute to global growth of the rubber / custom compounding business.

  • Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's or technical college degree in materials science or engineering or related experience of at least years in a similar or related position specifically in the LSR and / or HCR rubber market.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a Technical Service, Sales or Marketing position with a B2B company. Related experience in the elastomers market required.
  • Proven track record of developing profitable new business
  • Industrial or Manufacturing B2B company experience is preferred; at a minimum, must have a strong interface with a production facility or plant project leadership experience
  • Knowledge of the relevant end use applications (i.e. automotive, wire and cable, construction, electrical insulators and home appliances), and the relationship between materials properties and applications.
  • Knowledge of ancillary processes, equipment, and service providers.
  • Assist Marketing & Sales in facilitating partnerships with outside service providers. Proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact among various levels and functions within the organization, both domestically and internationally.
